CHOOSING FRIENDS WISELY!
Who do you want to surround yourself with?
They say you’re given your relatives, but you choose your friends, which is why choosing your friends wisely is one of the most important decisions you will make. You’re actually choosing who you want to surround yourself with, or what energy you want to bring into your life. In a certain way, your friends are a reflection of who you are.
While many friends will come and go, moving in and out of our lives with changing seasons, some will stay for much longer, perhaps forever. A good friend allows us to be our real selves, without filters or masks. They offer us someone to share our problems with, or a shoulder to lean on, or the perfect hug at the perfect moment. Friendship is something beautiful — offering lasting memories that we can treasure and honor forever.
But friendship is also very fragile and must be taken care of and tended to; otherwise, like all fragile things, it will quickly disappear or die away. And how often do we see a friend turn into an enemy? We need to tend to our friends like gardens.
Of course, when it comes to the friendships we keep, there are no coincidences. Some of our friends come from other lives — some we owe a debt to, others owe us. In either case, friendships are always an opportunity and a blessing.
In Ho’oponopono, I learned that we all have two inseparable friends whom we can count on at all times, assuming we are open enough to approach them. The first friend is God, that eternal friend who we can always seek and find shelter with. The second friend is our inner child — the part of us that is small and large at the same time, that which will always help us make the connection with God.
And, remember, a good friend is not someone who feels sorry for us or agrees with us when we feel like victims. A good friend is someone who reminds us that we are 100% responsible for our lives and that the power is within us to stop complaining and blaming. A good friend empowers us.
Of course, real friendship is only possible when you are aware of yourself and the world around you. It is your decision to choose the friends who will not only make you happy but will help you grow into the person you were meant to be.
Choose your friends wisely.
